Our Principles and Policies radio show for Friday December 9, 2011. Barry Sheets and Chuck Michaelis of the Institute For Principled Policy discuss a hearing that they both attended and at which Chuck testified. The bill was SB 165: The Founding of America Documents Bill. The bill was originally proposed by our friends at Ohio Christian Alliance and simply required that the foundational documents of the United States of America like the entire Constitution which includes the Bill of Rights and following amendments, the Declaration of Independence, Ohio’s Constitution, the Northwest Ordinance, the Federalist and Anti-federalist Papers, etc. be taught in Ohio’s schools as a separate curriculum item in their original context. Seems kind of simple and necessary, doesn’t it? Not according to the Democrat Party members on the committee. Why? Listen here and find out.

Now that Issue 2 has passed and SB 5 is history, the chickens are coming home to roost. Public employees are losing their jobs because the money isn’t there to pay for their Pay-Benefit-Pension plans- the exact thing that SB5/Issue 2 was supposed to fix.

Barry Sheets and Chuck Michaelis discuss an important article in Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government Blog entitled Union Bosses Win, Ohio Workers Get Fired. One of the public entities discussed is Chuck’s local school district the Westerville City Schools. We discuss in more detail some of the antics that the Westerville City School Board of Education have used in the past and are planning to use to attempt and force the passage of a large tax increase, most of which will be used to pay for large pay increases and continued benefit and pension increases for district employees.
